Massive overcharge by Octopus Energy

  • I'm slightly dubious having read the above thread of the integrity of Octopus energy.  We had a smart meter installed on our property and magically a nearly £3000 charge was applied to our account.  The property is rented out and the smart meter applied charged over 2 years of gas useage (going on our normal utilisation) within less than 2 months.

Fortunately I have a photo of the meter readings with a date from the two months prior which I have provided to their customer service team.  I'm mentioning it on this thread in case these cases are not unusual mistakes.

I have a rental property and I don't normally keep such a close eye on the monthly usage but this was such a significant jump it was hard to miss.

What are the two meter readings? The one in the photo and now?

Given that the OP vanished after not providing any readings to help us check their bill and therefore we have no idea whether there was actually any error, and the later poster pointed out that Octopus proactively flagged the possible error before the customer had even noticed it, I'm dubious about your dubiousness.
