New Ceiling Light Has No Earth Connector

Hello, I'm replacing a ceiling light which has a Live, Neutral and Earth wire. However my new ceiling light has only a Live and Neutral and nowhere to connect the Earth. What should I do with the earth wire?

Tape it up.

Cover the earth wire with some earth sheath & leave it.

Fit a Wago Inline connector like this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385112524770The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Are you fitting a metal light fitting? If so, it needs an earth. If not, then it doesn’t, so do as pp have said2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

There are, but plenty of Chinese ones too that probably should be earthedBarelySentientAI said:

Quite true, but adding an earth to piece of Class II equipment can create a safety risk. It wouldn't be correct or safe to just fit an earth to anything metal.flashg67 said:

More likely that they simply shouldn't be sold, rather than be Earthed. I wouldn't trust that there would be reliable continuity through them, particularly at high fault currents. You can't simply connect a CPC to it and call it Class I. Manufacturers' type testing is critical.flashg67 said:
