Motorhome vehicle check

We are looking at getting a Motorhome and would like to get a vehicle check as it's a private sale.  Recommendations for who to use

You could always get a standard AA or RAC inspection.

But as it's a bit different to an ordinary car, it may be worth looking for local dealerships who supply motorhomes and having a word with them.  Odds on they'd be prepared to do an inspection - for a fee, of course.  I'm just thinking they would have more experience of the specifics of motorhomes, over and above the basic mechanicals (which an AA or RAC inspection would cover).

It's worth doing an HPI check as well, just to make sure there's no outstanding finance on it, or that it's not been declared an insurance write-off at some point.

For the motorhome side of things, I'd recommend getting a habitation check done by an approved workshop.  https://www.approvedworkshops.co.uk/find-approved-workshop.  They will make sure that the gas, water and electricity systems are safe, and (very important) check for damp.

Ask the seller if they've had an annual habitation check (many insurance companies insist on it).  If so, have a really good look through, especially the damp report.

For the mechanical side, you're looking for a more normal AA/RAC type inspection.

There are some companies that do mobile servicing. They offer pre-purchase checks as well.
