Norton 360 program and PC problems

I have often read on this board that you should ditch your Norton program as there is no need for it.
I've just run a scan using it on my 4 month old Pc and it states that I have:
299021 Browser junk
6467 system junk
389 Broken short cuts
365 Broken registry issues
And that i have 5 programs slowing my PC
Naturally I want to keep my new Pc in optimum condition and to run as fast as possible.
Norton wants me to pay more for a program that will deal with the above issues, but members here write that I need nothing but Windows Defender!
I use my PC a lot, what should I do?
I'm not technically PC minded so help and direction to go with this problem would be very welcome.
Thank you

You should then turn Windows Defender back on. That stuff will periodically get sorted by Windows anyway, but if you want to accelerate the process you can run clean-up.

Thank youBrowser "junk" is not necessarily junk, and you can remove it yourself. Same for "system junk", which you can also remove yourself as its built into Windows.Broken shortcuts do not cause issue until you try to use them (and in fairness the way modern Windows works most shortcuts are technically broke), and as for broken registry entries - that't not necessarily a problem.Programs slowing your PC? Well does your computer feel slow?I'd suggest dumping Norton and let Windows Defender... well defend Windows basically1 -
Go here and read how to uninstall Norton with tool they supply.
Download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool for Windows

Everything in that list can be safely ignored. Who is to say what it classifies as 'junk' is actually stuff you don't need?If you need to clean up stuff there are tools built into Windows. Leave the registry alone. Broken entries don't cause problems, they just get ignored.1 -
That's definitely a NO to Norton!
Thanks for all replies, very definite about Norton, I'll follow your kind instructions for my future Pc usage.
