I parked at Grand Central a few weeks back. I use an app for parking at Grand Central YourParkingSpace, which allows you to park there without having to do anything as it pays for you automatically. It’s advertised by Grand Central as a way to pay. My issue is, I have two cars registered on the app but only one has auto pay. I missed a payment because I thought my car was registered. The app has the car as the default car, but that doesn’t mean it’s the one register for auto pay! (App glitch) I tried to use the app and Yourparkingspqce on a laptop, but the page literally had so many bugs so does the app if you want to look which car is register with auto pay. I have screenshots of the app messing up and online errors. But who do I complain to? Do I have a leg to stand on? I have a Registered keeper letter now from Brittania. I did ask for help from YourParkingspace, but they said the issue has been passed on to Brittania.

Depends if the NTK is POFA worded or not. Please don't show us. You can look and learn for yourself why it matters. See the NEWBIES thread where I have linked a dedicated thread of NTK pictures.

If they complied with POFA which is what you imply, then the keeper may well be liable for the charge
You had or have a contract with a third party app, which may have paid Britannia, or not
The driver had a parking contract with Britannia when they parked the vehicle
Paying for anything via a third party is always a problem unless it goes through correctly
The questions are, did the app actually pay the money for the correct VRM , or not. ?
If yes, why are Britannia issuing the PCN. ? Non payment. ? Keying error. ?
Britannia dont get paid until the money hits their account, so the whole pathway and VRM registration need checking in order to determine what has gone wrong and why. ?
The onus is on the driver and keeper to ensure that it was paid for the correct VRM

Thank you for that. Yeh the payment goes from the app to Britannia I’m guessing. I believe the Auto pay is only on my other car. But I don’t know how you make the auto pay, as you can’t seem to be able to do that on the app, or online (it won’t allow me to login) The app won’t allow me to look at all the cars registered! I can see that there are two cars, but it only allows me to see the default one, which is the one I used. I didn’t pay as I thought I had…. Via the auto pay.0

The receipt for payment turns up as soon as you leave, but I didn’t get it, and I forgot to check0

So are you saying that Britannia have a point about non payment. ?
Its the driver's responsibility to ensure that payment is made, no matter what method is used, just as it is if I pay for a restaurant meal, or petrol, or my shopping at Asda , or pay a seller on eBay by card or by PayPal, with ebay you register PayPal and with PayPal you have the options like a card that is registered, and is current , etc
When these problems arise, especially if no payment is actually made correctly for the service provided, the service provider has a point, and has a breach of contract claim, do they not. ?
Yes it was a catalogue of errors or mistakes, but sometimes we have to atone for them
If there is a getout here, its not the errant payment , its not POFA If they complied with it, which is what you confirmed above, its possibly not signage because you knew that payment was required but decided to do it via a third party app, which has failed. When technology fails, we are often left counting the cost

Hmmm...but we still say do not pay a private parking charge, all the time that the parking industry has engineered it that the DLUHC couldn't yet regulate them.
The industry is considered a bunch of cowboys - a word used by journalists and MPs alike. Let's test it:
I would appeal NOT with a template.
I would appeal telling Britannia about the issues and app failure coupled with human error, which makes this a major keying error case. Ask them to let you settle it at £20 as per the keying error and BPA appeals charter.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
