DWP PHONE LINES UNAVAILABE AND NO PAYMENT OF ESA

I have been unable to contact the DWP today and it says no phone line available until tomorrow. I'm hoping that this is the reason for no payment of ESA today. Anybody have any ideas what is going on?

Apparently the call handling system across all of the DWP is down today. Not just ESA but other benefit lines too, such as PIP.

It would be interesting to see if there has been an IT problem which has affected payments and, if so, whether this has impacted on the call handling system.

I received my ESA payment today as normal.

How long have you been claiming ESA?

Are you pre-assesmemt or WRAG or Support Group ?

If you are pre-assessment, if the fit note is not up to date, then payment may be paused.

Hiya,

Has anyone else had any other problems regarding communications with the DWP  besides" call back tomorrow" beyond the 1st of May 2024?

My friend has been sanctioned.

She called a couple of times during the first week of May and although she got the "call next working day" message strangely, she did get through to someone and explained that she couldn't access her UC journal. When she later discovered that she had been sanctioned (by letter I think) she called again and was told they had sent her an email TO HER JOURNAL which she had told them she couldn't access  (The mind boggles??) 

To top it off, even though she is a single Mother and explained that to attend the appointment they gave her yesterday for today, she would have to take her 9 yr old out of school early. So, unless she was willing to take the risk of having further/longer sanctions incurred she had no choice.

 I should also add that the first appointment she missed a few weeks ago was because Abi was poorly (she did notify them). Also, they live in the country and as it is approx a 40 miles round trip to the job center it's not just a question of needing a babysitter for just an hr while attending the appointment.

Did this get sorted for you? Did you find out why your payment went missing? Mine has gone missing this week (first time ever)

As its bank holiday the phone lines wont be open till tomorrow (Tuesday 28 May)

You were advised on your other thread that they will make a same day payment when you ring them tomorrow.

I know that thank you, I was just asking how this person's issues were resolved. You know, because sometimes you may be a bit panicked and you would like to ask someone how their issues were sorted out for more context and information. 

I believed we were allowed to post on here...
