Hyundai i30 missing the advertised wireless charging pad feature
I have a 2019 Hyundai i30 SE NAV which I bought new. Recently I upgraded my mobile and wanted to use the car's wireless charging pad. It appears this feature is missing as it should have a qi indicator light.
I'm visiting the dealership on Friday for them to check as the service manager wasn't sure if that was on my model but what are my rights? When they did the car handover, one of the things pointed out was the charging pad. Also I still have the 2019 brochure and it specifies the charging pad is a standard feature on the SE NAV model. I have this week looked at the same model currently available as a used car from Hyundai, some up to 2 years older than mine, plus UK based videos online showing the correct model as having this feature.
My feeling is they should if possible retro-fit the wireless charging pad. From what I saw on car sites, the Comsumer Rights Act gives 6 years to highlight such things and as it is for any purchases, they should be as advertised.
Any thoughts are welcomed.

Do you have any documentation from when you bought the car, detailing the list of features? Is the charging pad the only thing that's missing from your "SE NAV" car?The CRA does protect you against faults in the car and if the car is not what you paid for...but this situation is slightly different. Your car is missing a component and it has taken you five years to notice that it is missing. Whilst I understand that you could not have used/tested the charging pad until now, if the car should have had this feature why did you not notice the absence of the qi indicator light? Did you not check that the car given to you matched the specification you paid for?

I have the correct i30 brochure that lists the charging pad as a standard feature and when the car handover happened it was explained that all I needed to do was place my phone on the pad to start charging. The brochure doesn't show photos of all interior angles. It's only by viewing other cars of the same model spanning 2017-2020 that I can see there should be an indicator light. I have all the documentation from the sale but this doesn't give a list of features, probably because Hyundai don't really have optional extras eg paying to upgrade to climate control. If you want something like that, you have to purchase the correct model. Exceptions to this are things like GuardX paint protection and branded mats.
Yes I did check it had everything that model should have and have rechecked again now. Larger tyres and sat nav are 2 of the features that are not available on the next model down and are present on my car. That should include the charging pad.

If this was a car that you were collecting from a dealer now, then you'd probably have it pointed out to you that specs change over time, and some cars have been in stock while others are factory order.
Five years after delivery? Not a hope!

You will find that the brochure will have a disclaimer that features may change. Which is why it is rare to get physical paper versions now.
Best thing to do is pop onto a UK Hyundai forum give them the details of you car & someone will confirm spec.

Also this is around the start of the chip shortage, so features did start dropping.
But one thing to check. If it is like Kia, there is a option to turn off wireless charging in the dash options.Life in the slow lane0 -
are you sure it just isnt working with your phone ? Ours is tempermental ( different car) , works with some phones and not others and doesn’t appear to have any indication when it’s not working only a light on dash when it is charging0

It looks like some SE Nav cars have it, others don't - a quick look at Autotrader shows one with the qi pad and light:

and another one without them:

They're both listed as 2019 SE NAVs, but that will have been the registration date, not the actual build date - so maybe the earlier (or later) ones don't have the feature. Does yours have the pad but not the actual light? It's not clear, as you said:When they did the car handover, one of the things pointed out was the charging pad.
My feeling is they should if possible retro-fit the wireless charging pad.
