My dd is waiting for the keys to her council house. Electricity supplier are ignoring local authority repeated requests to repair meter and reconnect supply. Supply needed to test new heating system/boiler. Apparently c.30 council homes across our local authority in same position. People desperate for homes but unable to move. Has anyone else come across this or have any ideas for action/solution?

If the supply has been disconnected then it might not be a simple/quick job to reinstate the supply. There are likely to be costs incurred and maybe these are yet to be paid by the council

Quite standard. Suppliers are never in any rush to get meters replaced/sort supply for local authorismties or housing Associations.
Could take months. They also don't let them know when they aren't going to turn up to an appt and start the booking process again off the back of it.
It's mildly better when the council or HA have a 3rd party involved managing those relationships with suppliers. BUT covid put paid to a lot of those priority arrangements as many dropped their void services who pushed forward the jobs on a priority basis.

If her local MP is any good then it may be worth her contacting them, particularly if by the sound of it she is not the only one impacted in the area. MPs will be very keen to impress, this year, and they may be willing to get involved to help add pressure to the supplier to get it sorted.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
