CHC Funding Appeal Victory

Options

Hi All,

I’m hoping someone may be able to help, our family have successfully appealed the discontinuation of CHC (Continuing Healthcare) funding for my mother whilst she was a resident at a care home facility. During the period of the decision to withdraw funding and the overturned result, the family transitioned her back home to provide care within our family.

However, navigating the details of what support is available to us in this new arrangement is proving challenging. Despite the recent victory in the appeal, there is a lack of clear information regarding the entitlements for families caring for their loved ones at home. We are uncertain about crucial aspects such as respite care options, the extent of funding we qualify for, and whether our decision to care for her at home affects other forms of assistance, such as disability allowance, carer's allowance, or attendance allowance.

Could anyone direct me to reliable resources or organisations that specialise in providing information about CHC funding? I am particularly interested in understanding what CHC funding covers and what it doesn't, as well as any potential implications it may have on other forms of support.

Any guidance or advice you could offer would be immensely valuable to us during this transitional period. Thank you
