We are just filling in form PA1A (probate application without a will) and the last couple of pages (p.16 and 17) there are 4 questions ‘have you completed the following forms:
IHT400 and IHT421 (Inheritance tax and probate summary - none to pay)
IHT207 (if the deceased had a permanent residence abroad - no)
IHT205 (reporting an excepted estate (which it is) but if they died on or before 31 Dec 2021)
is it right that we’ve ticked ‘NO’ to each one?

It is right in our eyes, it just feels like we aren’t sending much or enough information to HMRC/HMCTS

Can't answer your question, but is there any reason why you have to complete a paper form rather than apply online ?
Online applications are apparently processed far more quickly that paper ones....1 -
I imagine because there is potentially no will - I could only apply by post because my mother died intestate and applications for LoA can't be made online.1

sorry p00hsticks, I should of said we are only completing a paper form as draft, then will apply properly online, same as we did for my mother in law who passed a year ago.p00hsticks said:Can't answer your question, but is there any reason why you have to complete a paper form rather than apply online ?

Oh, I didn’t know. We printed off PA1A form just to use as a draft, then was going to apply for LoA online like we did for probate about 8 months ago for mother in law.BreakfastTea18 said:I imagine because there is potentially no will - I could only apply by post because my mother died intestate and applications for LoA can't be made online.
is that right that you can’t apply for LoA online?0 -
I have today applied for LoA online, for an excepted estate. So it is possible.0

If you answered the application questions correctly you would have ended at this page. Unable to proceed - Apply for probate - GOV.UK (apply-for-probate.service.gov.uk)allconnected said:I have today applied for LoA online, for an excepted estate. So it is possible.
I am intrigued to know whether your application was rejected?0
