My last house that I recently sold had a mould issue under the stairs but we cleaned it off and used anti mould paint and it really does keep on top of the issue.

Yes if you can identify the cause. It's usually damp either penetrating through an external wall, or too much water vapour in the air.

This latter can come from cooking, showering, breathing (yes, really) without adequate ventilation.

If it's under the stairs, is that an enclosed space? with no window, extractor fan, or other means for damp air to escape?
