Joint Bank Account?

Hi All,
My partner and I have recently bought our first house and we want to set up our first joint bank account to pay the mortgage and household bills etc from...
We want to keep our own 'current' accounts and expect to each pay more than £1000/month into the joint account, from which we'll then pay our mortgage and bills... We do not expect to go overdrawn.
Can anyone suggest a good account for us?
Thanks,
Gav

We did exactly this with Cahoot - five years ago and no complaints.
The only thing to bear in mind is whether you want a cheque book or not. We didn't and I have to admit that there have been occasions when it would have been useful. But on those occasions, I simply wrote out a personal cheque an then transferred the money back out of Cahoot to my own account, online.
There's a free £100 overdraft, which is a useful buffer if the timing of certain deductions goes against you! Consider adding your own buffer though e.g. an extra £20 each per month - you can always transfer this to a Cahoot savings account and use it for emergencies. Transfers from a Cahoot savings account to a Cahoot current account are pretty much "instant".
To be honest, most other joint accounts will do what Cahoot does .... but this is the only one I have any experience with.
HTHWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
