What to do with this ugly wall?

A portion of wall in my hallway looks like this. For obvious reasons I would like to do something with this.
My initial thought was just plasterboard over it, however this would make it stick out proud from the rest of the wall.
Any suggestions on best course of action?
- take out wood cladding and plasterboard those sections?
- reclad without something better?
- take wall down and rebuild?

Do you still want part of it glazed?
Best job, take it down and put a ‘proper wall’ in its place, diyable if you have reasonable skill.
Cheapest option, paint it white, it’ll stand out far less.Left field option, rip it out and replace with trifold doors.0 -
No I don't want the glazing.
I was hoping not to rebuild it just to save time and cost, but I think it is the solution which will give the best result0 -
How dark will it make your hallway if you loose that glazing?0

Remove the cladding and glass and replace with plasterboard - I actually think it looks quite nice but I wouldn't choose to fit it now it's not the 1970s!1

Remove cladding and have them sections replastered.
Change glass for a nicer version of glass to keep the light element in the hall.2 -
If you were to remove the cladding and the glass with plasterboard, put in some Calas or whatever size you need with some noggins. You wouldn’t need to plaster/skim it if you use whole sheets. Fill the holes with filler, sand and paint2006 LBM £28,000+ in debt.

Repaint the whole lot in one colour and it will look quite fashionable! All the woodwork, cladding and the door.People are paying good money for vertical
cladding in their homes. It just needs tying together as one look.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Agree with the painting and changing the glass.
That would be the Mse way - and look ok.
I'd keep the glass reasonably plain pattern to keep it fashionable.
If you remove you will need to redo the carpet and hall flooring to fit.
Could you remove and refit to the same size re flooring?
Or insert slightly wider so the flooring will fit?
Could it be filled or skimmed?
If it was a plain wall I'd consider a feature window, plain glass with leaded simple pattern - but I come from an artyfarty backgroundviral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Personally, I'd just paint the wood in a lighter colour and see what it's like. We had cladding up both sides of our stairs. I took one side off, and the mess behind was so bad I just painted the other side. The painted side is the far nicer side now.
If it still looks naff after painting, then look at replacing, IMO.3 -
That's not bad looking cladding - in fact vertical rails like that are currently trendy.
Consider going bold - perhaps charcoal for the cladding and frame, and a large stick-on transfer for the glass - make it a feature.
Lots of transfers out there - Celtic? Trees? Flowers? Or go stained glass2
