How long to complete?

Options
Hi

We're going to meet our solicitor on 3rd Jan to discuss contracts & mortgage offer. (Offer has come through fine, just basically waiting for the nod)

We're buying off a relocation company and were wondering how long it will take to exchange, then complete from then?

Can anyone help with a likely timescale on things?

Thanks

The question is really "how long is a piece of string...!"

However, to give you an idea - but this will depend on SO many factors:
From the point of having an offer accepted, getting a survey etc etc to exchange is usually 8-10 weeks. From exchange to completion is usually 2 weeks, but can be done in 1 if required to meet a deadline.

(Exchange and completion can sometimes be done on the same day...but this depends on how funds are being transferred for the deposit, and it's not usual practice (more common when you buy off plan, as I understand it - but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong)).

As I said, it's all dependent upon so many other factors like the survey, the land registry, there being no issues discovered, and getting an appropriate mortgage offer, but I hope that helps you. :)

    cheers for the reply,

the solicitors have received the mortgage offer and search results. The survey was completed a week before Xmas with no problems.

Hopefully the solicitor will be able to give us an indication of timescales when we see him. It's a bu**er that they've been shut over Xmas hols!

If you've had the survey results, and if both sets of solicitors are on the ball and getting the paperwork done, then hopefully you will only be 4 weeks away from exchanging!

    Best of luck. :)
