Potentially weird situation (auction buyer)?

  • Thanks. Have attempted to chat but they seem uncomfortable so don't want to push that or pry. We are not worried about value of relative's house. It is mostly intrigue, we are pretty baffled. He is back, alone, with a lump hammer today. He really could do with someone else helping or he'll be there forever. No one has seen electricians or builders in there. 

    Since it's been 2 months I doubt he is prepared to sell it now or has the option to walk away from the sale. Just seems to be plundering in. The house is now knee deep in rubble, no skip and no access to back yard. 

    It's quite an unusual situation, to us, but we have no experience with renovation or auctions, am just wondering if this is common? Wouldn't they need a tighter plan so as to avoid future mistakes and money loss?

    It's really not your concern. Price your own property taking into account the negative impact of the adjoining property, sell, and move on

    If next door is knee deep in rubble, without taking any advice, they may have compromised the party wall. I don’t think you can just shrug and let them get on with it, unfortunately. 

    Maybe, you need your own surveyor to look at the work so far?

  • Husband's family already have a buyer lined up for the property next door to it so will be passing that on to them asap. Thanks for the heads up.
