cgt payment on shares sale

I sold shares 23 April 2024, cgt due on profit.
I want to pay asap, can I? If not, do I have wait til December 2025?
Regardless, if I complete CGT forms and pay, do I still need to complete Self Assessment?

You can use the real time reporting service if you don't otherwise need to complete SA. I wouldn't be in a rush to pay. You could earn a bit of interest on the money in the mean time.

I would not be in such a hurry.

If you have any other shareholdings currently showing a lost you can consider realising the loss to offset wholly or partly against your current gain. The tax year is still very young, so if you hold any other shares you might also decide to realise more profit.

In any event cant see the appeal of handing tax money earlier than necessary.

    Thanks poseidon1,masonic
It's actually my partner, and it looks like I'm going to have to put up 20 months of their constant worrying about not getting it right. They have not done this before, it's not a lot of money, but as masonic says getting interest would be better. We can't find definitive answers as to which forms etc..
And of course they should be Money Saving aware!

Are you sure you/your partner made enough profit to be liable to CGT?

Reed_Richards, definitely, won't be any losses. Main worry is which forms to fill in when
