Fun with switching providers
So I finally decided to jump ship and leave Eon and go for Outfox the Market which seem to have the best rates I could find. So far so good.
Went on to the OtM site and plugged in an initial gas reading no problem. But the site wouldn't let me submit a reading for electricity. I've sent them an email instead as being the solution noted in their chatbot thingme. Am I missing something here?
So just to be thorough I went and signed in to me Eon account to submit readings there. No problem except that their system thought my electricity reading might be too high. I know I've got the numbers write and I know that previous readings for the last couple of years have been all "smart" ones which I have occasionally sense checked.
But then I noticed that while I have a fixed DD set to be taken later this week there is a note on the payment screen that implies that I'm on a variable DD and I could make my life easier by changing it to a fixed one. So I went ahead and changed it to fixed even though it never should have been changed to variable. And I've gone back in and checked again and the account is still showing as being a variable DD.
I've checked the messages and it's not mentioned anywhere and I certainly have not requested it. I know that like many at this end of winter I have a debt on the account which will need to be cleared. And on they're "you're leaving" message it does state "if you owe us money you'll have 14 days to pay." And that's from when I switch, not from requesting a switch.
So is changing your last DD to variable a standard practice now?
