Gr1pr said:its also worth noting that usually the free parking is for CUSTOMERS ONLY, not for convenient parking whilst a person goes off site to a nearby gym, especially if they are not customers of the business
its what is on the signs that counts, typically in smaller font than the 3 hours free parking that entices a person in
I doubt that Tesco`s has an agreement with the nearby gym that allows gym goers to use the Tesco car park for free
my nearest Tesco extra is limited to 90 minutes for customers only
On the point of CUSTOMERS ONLY, yes the signs (the blue ones with the round circles), say that it is a Tesco Customer Car park, and the times relate to Store Opening times, as displayed on the door.
However, this carpark, ALSO serves a restaurant, which is open from 9am to 10pm on Sundays. It also serves the library, but they don't open Sundays.
There is no mention of those other businesses hours on the signage. So I wonder if the restaurant has a "log your reg" system inside...i'll stick my head in and ask next week!
Also, I can't recall actually seeing any ANPR cameras at the two access points. Maybe they are very cleverly hidden.
Will pay more attention next time I go.
I didn't risk it this morning, as I was up and out early, and parking at 8.45am might be pushing it!!! I got one of the last spaces at the leisure centre.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Definitely check with the other businesses, who may have an agreement with Tesco, or with the landowner, plus have a read of this new thread too

By way of an update...
Yes, the restaurant do have a deal with Tesco's, as there is a notice on the door to the effect that you need to log your reg with them.
I asked in the leisure centre, they don't have any similar agreement.
I spotted the ANPR cameras this morning.
So I won't risk parking there on a Sunday, unless it's well after 9.30amHow's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2
