"Hello! Well, a bit about me: I'm 38 and have always been very careful with my money. I earn £25,000 a year. I have a mortgage for £79,000 at 2.79% fixed until 2027. I have been saving hard for about 1.5 years, which was great with the rise of interest rates. I have saved to date £15,500. I'm hoping to get to at least £20,000 by the end of this year, but hopefully, it will be more. I have stopped overpaying my mortgage as I'm getting nearly double in savings. I'm hoping to set aside maybe £250 a month to save until I'm older. I have a work pension, and my plan is to save as much as possible to hopefully get close to paying off the mortgage when the fixed term ends."

Wow! I'm impressed!
Quite agree that putting money into savings now rather than overpaying is a good idea and then you can whack in the savings as well as the interest it generated against the mortgage to really pay it down.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
