How funny is that, didn't realise it was already here and with the same name :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Ahh well it hasn't been used since 2009 so hopefully it will get restarted now for us "in need of inspiration cooks":)

    Ok I have the following

400g Fresh Diced beef (I hope lol)
    3 carrots
    1 Red onion
    3 normal onions
    Garlic
    Potatoes/Rice/spahetti/pasta
    Single & Double cream
    Tinned tomatoes
    Tomatoe puree
    Tinned sweetcorn
    Pearl Barley
    Mature Cheddar
A piece of Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P (Parmesan I think)
    a handful of button mushrooms
    1 x Lemon
    Various herbs and Spices
    Bisto Powder
    Oxo Cubes
    Flour

Any suggestions/Inspiration would be gratefully accepted
  • Jazzyj I would adapt a recipe from the bbcgoodfood website for hearty mushroom soup (sorry can't do links) but brown the beef and add that too, to make it even heartier. Use your oxo cubes instead of stock, don't worry about the booze or dried mushrooms and throw in a tin of tomatoes too. I love this soup and eat it a lot. Also be sure to have a good grating of parmesan on top.

OK I would use the beef, an onion, a carrot,a beef stock cube and some mixed herbs and seasoning and make an old fashioned Hot Pot, I would make cream of tomato soup from the tin, the puree, an onion, stock cubes, dried basil (if you had that) and some single cream, I would make a pearl barley risotto with the red onion, the mushrooms some herbs and some stock(also a little wine if you had it!)and top it with some of both cheeses, and if you had some sugar too I would use the lemon and double cream with it to make lemon possett, hope that's useful, Cheers Lyn x.
