Dubrovnik in June: too crowded?

Any thoughts please?

I understand that Dubrovnik is fantastically beautiful but overwhelmed by armies of visitors. Is a stay there in June likely to be enjoyable despite the crowds? And is there excessive price-gouging?

I would appreciate any thoughts and experiences: I am considering a trip there with a group of people but fear that it could turn out badly.

We visited there in June a few years ago and stayed just outside of the Old Town.

It does get very busy and crowded mainly when the massive cruise ships dock there blocking the landscape.  You see the coaches all lined up waiting for the holidaymakers to disembark and descend on the old town.  So if you avoid going into the old town when the cruise ships are there you should be OK.  Dubrovnik together with the rest of   Croatia is a beautiful country.

Stayed there a few years ago in an apartment where the owner lived next door.  Best bit of advice he gave us was "leave Dubrovnik on Thursday, there's 4 cruise ships!".  We went out for the day elsewhere, and were glad we did.

It can get very busy and crowded in the day time with cruise ships and day visitors.  In the evening it's completely different and far more pleasant.

Plenty of websites online where you can look up the cruise schedules and plan your time around that Dubrovnik Cruise Ship Schedule | Dubrovnik Cruise Port Schedule (cruisetimetables.com)

I stayed in Cavtat along the coast a bit. Lovely spot, and buses or boats into Dubrovnik which was definitely heaving in June during the day. Didn't venture there of an evening when it may have been better.
