Gas mains running along property - devalues?

Would like to get general opinion of you lovely people here.
As it stands the mains gas runs through property boundary and runs all along from drive way, gap between house and fence and along the garden end. It is connected to at least 40 other properties behind this property.

My question is does it devalues the value of property? Personally not a problem for me but not sure the response from buyers when I sell on. Any personal opinion on this is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Russy

We have an old property c.100 years old, we have a gas main going parallel to our house across our back garden about 7metres from the house, the garden is only about 8m long anyway. Never came up with any viewing or with our buyer as far as I know, and not a problem to me. The gas main will only ever be a problem if they need to do any repairs or digging for it. Hopefully it's relatively new. The good news is, when they did have to dig our back garden up a few years ago due to a leak somewhere, they were brilliant at putting things back how they were.

    As long as you're non-smokers you'll be fine. :)

If it runs along your driveway and beyond it means you will never be able to build a garage there.  That would make it a no for me if I was looking to buy it, so that's one prospective buyer off the list that might devalue it a bit.
  • Scrap that....
I was misreading the map. What was boundary of the estate, we misinterpreted that to be gas mains.
What a week this has been..... Such a roller coaster

    An update.
Cadent dug up from footpath to front of the house and noted a live connection but was capped around 5 feet before the wall of my home. Such a relief that it was not built on mains.
I have asked cadent to cap it at footpath end but they were not interested.
