What is the point of Insurance these days?

What is the point of getting any type of insurance when the Insurers will not cover you, or quote an astronomical price for basic cover.

For example,
  • I can't get Travel Insurance outside of Europe if I declare the fact that I have been treated for High Blood Pressure. (Even the fact that you have seen a doctor goes against you)
  • I can't get Car Insurance if I own a Land Rover, or have a car that doesn't have a Tracker fitted.
I mean what on earth is going on with these companies? Not to mention the fact that most insurance premiums have essentially doubled for most people. Some insurers have even phoned customers to tell them that they are going to have to cancel their policy with them in mid term, because they can no longer offer insurance.

I think the Government needs to do something about what is going on because most people are spending £1000's per year on Insurance that equates to nothing in return. And you can understand why more people are starting to think that this is just a big wide scam to protect the underwriters survival and stop them from making losses.

You mean that this is the price they have to charge to avoid going bust because of how much they pay out in claims, and you think that they should be forced to trade at a loss because it seems expensive?  Lets send the underwriters bankrupt so nobody gets paid out for anything?

What on earth do you think the Government should be doing?

Well this is obviously nonsense, since the vast majority of insured cars don't have trackers fitted!

And do you really think nobody who's seen their doctor about blood pressure can travel outside Europe?

RR pricing peaked in January after the media brewed up a short lived storm.   By March, it was getting back to normal again (I tested pricing on our RR in January and it was over £3000 a year but was back under £1000 by renewal in March).

    No they havent.

Well, if consumers were not putting in fraudulent claims and the lazy population went back to work to help restore supply lines, that would help.

And you can understand why more people are starting to think that this is just a big wide scam to protect the underwriters survival and stop them from making losses.
Who would have thought that the aim of a business is to make money and not have losses.

So sell it. This recent period is hardly the first time in history that certain cars have become hard to insure/uninsurable. The markets adapts and life goes on, without any government intervention needed.

Avanti Insurance are good for Travel Insurance with pre-existing medical conditions. My partner has high-blood pressure and number of other conditions and they were able to provide Travel Insurance for a month long trip to Australia at reasonable cost.

    Ridiculous
fuu oh r travel insurance how much will they charge you? £75
that will cover if anything did happen
    same for a land rover
unless they are charging you the value of the car to insure it it’s a bargain - even then your covered fir damage you cause to anyone else
