Compare the Market Car Giving Insurance companies Inaccurate details.....

My daughter is 18, and has been driving for 10 months on Marmalade insurance with no issue.

She has got a job as a carer while she is taking a year out from her studies, and since she will travel to multiple sites, will require business insurance.

Marmalade do not offer this, so I will let that policy run out, and I went to Compare the Market and got some quotes which seemed OK.

So she takes the job, and this week will complete the training and will start working in a week or two.

So I go to pay for the new policy, and I am just about to make payment, when I decide to double check the details on the policy on the actual insurance company website. I'm glad a I did, as they were incorrect.

Although on the compare the Market Website it clearly states that the policy is for SDP and Business use, the best price on the list was from a company called Ticker. When reading through the policy it clearly states that that company does not cover Business use on any of their policies. I tried to call them but no joy - they are closed.

So I go to the next one on the list - Hastings Direct. Their quote is very similar in price. I am about to go through their insurance, and I check the details - and again I find an inaccuracy. My daughter has been driving for 10 months,  but Compare the Market had told Hastings that she had one year NCD. Correcting this information Hastings don't want to insure her.

I tried to call Hastings Direct, who were allegedly still open, but all I got a recorded message that they are far too busy to talk to me, or anyone else for that matter, and were also too busy to schedule a call back and that I should try another day.

Had I not checked carefully, it could easily have been the case that my daughter was not insured and the consequences of this for her could have been very serious indeed.

I wonder how many people are driving around with policies that are priced on information incorrectly provided by comparison sites.... it could be very expensive to find out as I'll bet they have it covered in the T's & C's
