Missing information and associates

Frustrating

I’ve recently found out that Equifax do not have any record of my bank account or credit cards. So although I use my cards every month and pay off in full this hasn’t been building up credit history. I have over a 300 point score difference between Equifax and Experian. 604 and 986 respectively. I’m in the process of trying to get them to add my bank details but finding the whole thing very stressful and upsetting.
I also found out that my ex partner was still associated with my account.
I have only found this out because I’ve recently been turned down for credit (1st time in nearly 60years) and only after requesting my credit report from Equifax have I found this out.
Apparently your ex partner stays on your credit report until you specifically request to have them taken off.
Am I the only one to have had this experience?

The fact your scores are different between Equifax and Experian is no suprise. Virtually everyone I know has a 999 score on Experian and an Equifax score 300 points lower, they just calculate their scores differently.
That said, the scores are a totally meaningless marketing gimic and AFAIK companies aren't obligated to report to all three CRA's.
Are you sure there's not another reason you've been turned down for credit? The above implies you are retired, and have multiple credit cards already - could it be an affordability issue?Know what you don't0 -
I know that there was something added to credit agreements about 20 years back that allowed card companies and banks to include extra information about how accounts are running. People who took out cards/accounts prior to that should have their information shown differently. Only reason I know about this is that one card I'd originally taken out mid 90s became part of a large bank's portfolio and they insisted that they could do things with my data and share it in a way which I had never signed up to.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Exodi. Thank you for your feedback. I have 2 credit cards. One I use solely for internet purchases and another I use occasionally if I’m out shopping. I have always paid them in full and never missed a payment. The credit report shows everything as green (I’m sure you know they have a traffic light system). I have one amber which has appeared since I queried my report to remove my ex parent from my report. There are no red marks. They apparently can’t tell me why I was turned down. There isn’t an affordability issue. I’m at a complete loss as to where I go from here. I have requested they add my credit cards to my account to show I have a credit history. This is the first time I have requested credit for a number of years. I’m only trying to get a new mobile phone £38/month as my current mobile is 6 years old and I’m paying £43/month at the moment.0
