IHT400 page 13. No will so do we apply probate or letters of administration

No, don’t do that it will definitely slow things down. For one thing you have to delay applying for probate for 20 working days instead of applying immediately.

Thank you poppystar, makes sense now. As it is an excepted estate, no need for IHT400.  Do we report the estates value on the probate (well, Letters of Administration) PA1A form?

Thank you Keep_Pedalling, we’ve re-read the gov advice regarding excepted estates and what you and poppystar say makes sense. 

I think the fact we’d recently finished a full IHT400 for my mother in laws estate we got wrapped up in thinking a full IHT400 was required.
