Reposition router via longer ethernet cable.?

Hi all

Bt came out and installed the small white box as attached (what's it called opt box?) And attached it to the router. I made the mistake to not have them put the router in another place. So I want to put router in hall but ethernet cable is not long enough. Can I just buy a longer ethernet cable and move router where I want it? Don't think there's any other cables I need to extend?

I've bought a 30m cat 6 cable. Will this work?

Should do. Just don't put the cable around sharp bends to make it look 'neat'.

    Thanks. That would be good.

I bought a cat 6 cable ethernet so hope that works OK
I called Sky and they said they normally use a cat 5 but a cat 6 should work fine as a cat 6 is just a faster version if cat 5.

Well my electrician took a 30 metre cat 6 ethernet cable from the ONT in bedroom and ran it to the living room where I plugged it into the router.
Would you personally now pay £65 for openreach to move the master socket from bedroom to the same place as the router now is downstairs?

Why would you move it when you have just paid someone to put a cable in? No I wouldn't pay Openreach.

I would recommend buying a flat Cat5 or Cat6 cable - you can then run it under carpets without it making a lump in the carpet.

You are mixing terms. The ONT is the master connection now, are you talking about both as the same thing?
