Retailer and manufacturer not honouring 5 year parts and labour guarantee on appliance

Thank you for your response. I actually have the fridge registered using the postcard. So they acknowledge that I have the guarantee and it covers me until 28/07/2025. But it seems this guarantee is useless and not worth anything.sheramber said:Normally you have to register the product to get the guarantee.
Their website says a postcard is enclosed for you to complete and send back to register.0 -

As you wish...but I'd rather just get a new fridge (and accept the contribution towards it) rather than spend months pursuing (possibly fruitless) legal action while fridgeless....ceena1 said:
I would happily take a functioning used fridge but what is being offered would not cover for an equivalent. I have a larder tall fridge that has to be specific dimensions and fitted with a slider fitting and that limits my options.user1977 said:
That is what your statutory rights entitle you to. Bear in mind what you ought to have is a 4 year old (working) fridge, so you're not entitled to a shiny new one. I'd probably take the money and run.ceena1 said:
they are offering a partial refund as they are deducting an amount equivalent to how long I've used the appliance for.1 -
They appear to be saying that since they cannot fix it the warranty is obsolete and telling you to calim from the retailer under your Consumer Rights.1

If they can fix the item, then it is not given it's a parts & labour guarantee..ceena1 said:

Thanks. What I struggle to understand is if their engineer has stated in his report that it is not economical to repair therefore they won't repair the appliance, then does that not mean the manufacturers can always use the same excuse every time a customer has a breakdown of appliance and tries to claim on their guarantee? Why would a manufacturer even bother trying to fix an appliance under guarantee if they can easily say it can't be fixed? It's seems like an easy way to avoid doing anything at all.born_again said:

Per my latest search online, a parts and labour guarantee is a full guarantee where the faulty product is either repaired or replaced if a problem develops during the guarantee cover period. Also I believe as the guarantee is issued by the manufacturer, they are liable to honour it (rather than the retailer).

You've not read that properly. It says May not Will. The article is very hand waving, light on facts and not very good in my opinion.ceena1 said:
