Electricity contracts tied in or not?
We were talked into signing a 3 year fixed electricity contract with British Gas Lite the brokers (Great Annual Savings) have since gone out of business. We were signed up in November 2022 but our first contract (we have 6 meters) didn't start until June 2023, I wanted to try and either renegotiate our terms or find a way of getting out of the contract. You can't speak to anyone at British Gas Lite it is online Chat only and they are no help whatsoever. Is there anything at all I can do? we are paying 55p per unit with a 45p a day standing charge.
I have just had a call from a company called Fast Utilities saying they can get me out of my contracts "No problem sir, we are doing this for many people and saving them money" They are proposing I go with Smartest Energy at 23.79p per unit and a standing charge of 63.78p per day, these companies seem to both exist, they have now sent me a document to sign via Xodo sign by apryse question is should I sign it and see what happens? It all seems to good to be true....and everyone knows what that usually means, problem is if it did work it would be a massive help to our small company. I have seen somewhere that companies who try and get you out of these contracts claim you are no longer in the premises and that you have moved but that would not be the case and i am worried if they did it that way British gas Lite would be after us for breaking our contract. Any help, advise would be greatly appreciated.

If you're in business, then never "sign it and see what happens". Before signing any contract, you should read every word of it and understand all the consequences of signing it. Don't believe anything that a sales person tells you unless it is backed up by something in the contract.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
