I am going to apply online and have uploaded a photo and the system says it’s good. Is it possible that it might not be accepted or can I trust the system? I do not want to lose my fees if application is rejected. I understand if rejected I will have the option to resubmit another photo. To avoid the hassle, just wonder whether I should pay what my local shop is asking over £12? Thanks

once the system said the photo was OK then I haven't had any trouble with any of the family passports - pretty sure you can submit another photo without losing fees2

We had one occasion when the website said the photo was good but it evidently wasn’t. They simply sent an email asking my son to upload a new photo on the link given. As he no longer trusted our DIY efforts he went to a local photo shop and uploaded the link which was accepted. There was no additional charge (other than the cost of the photo!)2

We did our pictures on a mobile phone when conditions were just right (not too sunny). Wouldn't pay £12 for a passport photo.1

I paid a small fortune for the photo booth pictures- I tried Tesco and every single one of the attempts said "Wah wah- no good" and I ended up with the last one as you only get 5 tries and no refunds. So I went to the Post Office and had it taken. (And so I paid twice)Then I uploaded the link to the Post office one in my application and it was rejected! (No good, your mouth is hanging open like a slack jawed drooling idiot- except it most definitely 100% was firmly closed in that tight lipped 1000yd stare expression they wanted), so in desperation I uploaded the link to the "useless" Tesco photo- which of course was immediately accepted! Then when I moaned about it on the old socials, every other person in the entire World had just gone and taken a selfie at arms length with their 'phone in the garden and it was accepted no problem..............I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
