Beneficiaries ID for solicitor

How long does it generally take to receive inheritance once you supply solicitor with ID and bank details. I asked and secretary said that it should not take too long.

It depends whether they are otherwise ready to send the funds, they could have merely been getting the ID check ticked off in advance.0

It would no doubt depend on where they were in the probate process when they asked for those details. They might only just have started and need to apply for the Grant of Probate and sell a property, sell shares etc - they might have already done all that and be ready to distribute funds. So anywhere from tomorrow to 2 years.
Twice, when I've engaged solicitors to handle the conveyancing of an estate property, they did the ID stuff right at the beginning of the process, several weeks before any distribution.
