You could turn this thread into a motivational diary of achievement.  Then in time you can look back and see how far you've come.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

There are also websites with communities of people who are tackling the same sort of problem and even threads on this forum too.
One site I've heard is good is called Unf*ck your habitat it's here Unfuck Your Habitat, then there is this Hoarding Disorder group which has some good suggestions for creating a plan to tackle the mess Home - Hoarding Disorders UK
There is also this Which Trusted Traders index which has Cleaning Services as one of it's categories Find traders near you with Which? Trusted Traders | Which?

One thing I'd suggest you consider now that you have some money available is buying an air purifier for your home which would be helpful for now and in the future. This page might be useful when choosing one Best air purifiers 2024 UK, expert tested (goodhousekeeping.com).

Good luck with sorting things out and I hope you and your cat will soon be enjoying a sparkling clean home.
