HMRC Tax Refund Cheque Expired

I received a cheque from HMRC for a tax rebate many months ago which I'd totally forgotten about until now.
I understand that banks won't process a cheque if it's past 6 months from the issue date which is the case here. Will HMRC re-issue it if I call them and explain?

Most likely you'll need to return it.0

I work for a finance company and regularly stop and reissue cheques which have not been cashed within six months of the issue date.
Contach HMRC and ask them to reissue the cheque or even see if they will pay it directly I to your account.2 -

It doesn't usually have to be a cheque/payable order, HMRC will send refunds electronically.0

Good Afternoon Everyone, I hope you are all keeping well. I wondered if anyone could help please. I received a tax refund cheque from HMRC which i had totally forgotten about, it was November 2023 so its basically 1 year expired so im not sure now if the bank will actually deposit the cheque for me, also i was told because the cheque doesn't have my full first name on and just my first initial that the bank could also refuse this,im not sure on that so just wanted to ask these questions if anyone could help. If it is best to return the cheque back to ask if HMRC if they would issue me another cheque would anyone know the address i need to return it to please. Thank you for your help......Darren0
