HMRC Tax Refund Cheque Expired

Options
I received a cheque from HMRC for a tax rebate many months ago which I'd totally forgotten about until now.
I understand that banks won't process a cheque if it's past 6 months from the issue date which is the case here. Will HMRC re-issue it if I call them and explain?

Most likely you'll need to return it.

I work for a finance company and regularly stop and reissue cheques which have not been cashed within six months of the issue date.

Contach HMRC and ask them to reissue the cheque or even see if they will pay it directly I to your account.

Bit stressed with other things but on the HMRC forum site I've since found they will reissue it.

Thanks for the reply all the same.

It doesn't usually have to be a cheque/payable order, HMRC will send refunds electronically.
