CC Payment Date

Hi

I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on this conundrum for me please...

I received my december statement which had a minimum payment due on the 27th December. I had meant to pay it just before christmas but it completely went out of my head. Anyway, last night (27th) I remembered so I phoned up the automated line to pay, only to find out my debit card needed to be registered (I thought this had been done already). My confusion comes from the fact that on the phone it said that my payment was due by the 30th December......When I phoned up today and made my payment the foriegn speaking!!! man on the phone kept just saying the date on the statement is correct and the phone hadn't been updated yet!!!!! what does he mean... every other detail was correct i.e. balance etc..

He also would not clarify whether I am now going to be charged for a late payment except by way of his continual reference to the statement, which I might add he had no idea what date was on my statement as he kept having to ask me.....
God I can't wait to pay this card off and get rid of it they are so unelpful:mad:
(Vanquis, by the way)

So which date is correct? will I be charged now? Should he have been able to tell me if I was late paying? sorry for the long waffle but dh cross with me as he was annoyed I got the card in the first place....(he spent on it tho:rolleyes: )

  • The date on the statement should be the correct one.

Yes, you probably will be charged a late fee. But perhaps phoning them again, explaining the situation and (maybe) lay it on thick about the 30th date it said..........they may remove the late fee for you.

The bloke on the phone sounded a bit useless, hopefully other staff aren't quite so bad. Some companies also have a UK call centre which they can put you through to if you ask (I don't know about Vanquis though).

Best of luck, let us know what happens :)
  • I had a lot of trouble getting through to vanquis on the 27th because their system was down - when I got through they said that they couldn't get any of my details up -phoned 4 times before they could answer my question.Maybe this was why your guy had to keep referring you to your statement?
May also be a good reason why they should absolve you of any interest payments!
