Data Breach

Hello, I’m hoping that someone may be able to help me. I’ve just received a letter from the network platform that my financial advisor is with outlining that a data breach occurred in May 2023. They have only just made me aware that my personal data has been affected and that “….there is a risk that data may be used by someone to deliberately target you….sufficient data about you to enable attempts to impersonate you or approach you….with potentially believable scams.”
I'm being offered complimentary Experian Identity Plus membership and I’ve got to enter my details to complete the registration.
I’ve gone completely paranoid now and am questioning whether the letter is legitimate!

The name is my pre married name and I had a meeting with my financial advisor just last week and she never mentioned anything.
Sorry for the long post…I have messaged my FA and awaiting a reply but is there anything else that I should be doing? Thank you in advance.

Which platform is it? Naming them might help, or searching public domain data should unearth information that would validate the truth or otherwise of the events highlighted in the letter....ManicMcGMum said:I’ve just received a letter from the network platform that my financial advisor is with outlining that a data breach occurred in May 2023.0 -
It’s 2plan wealth management. I’ve tried searching and looked on their site but can’t find any reference to a data breach.0

https://ico.org.uk/media/about-the-ico/data-sets/4027758/pdb-dataset-q2-202324.csv has the record of the breach being self-reported to the ICO in August 2023, case reference IC-251423-D0J1.ManicMcGMum said:It’s 2plan wealth management. https://www.breachsense.com/breaches/2plan-data-breach/ also refers to it, albeit with no meaningful detail.
https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/2plan.com has an uncomplimentary review mentioning the breach.
I'd be inclined to believe it happened, so can't see any downside in getting on with registering for the identity protection service.1 -
Thank you so much for your help, I’ll get on and register0
