No sound on DVD

I have a JVC video/DVD recorder combi connected to digibox & TV. Have played DVDs before but not for some time. Now put on DVD and there is no sound. OK on video. Spent several frustrating hours changing set-up options but nothing works. Can anyone help please? It works fine on my PC!

have you changed any cables since it worked?
some setups req the sound to be fed down a seperate cable,
Or have you changed any set up screens on the TV (it might be looking for the sound to come down a different socket to the one your using)
Allso the DVD itself may be outputting the sound to a "special" surround sound socket or similar, so it then shuts off the sound to the tv.

Check the cable is pushed right in, mine regularly come loose & we lose the sound but still get perfect picture.

Check audio out options on the DVD, try another DVD.

Thanks to all who responded. Really appreciated.
I have tried other DVDs and made sure the plugs are well pushed in. Also been through all combinations of options on both DVD and TV set ups. Still no sound. OK on the video side.
