Exit EDF early
Options
Does anybody have any experience of switching tariff with EDF early within the 49 period?
They advised that my Total Fix May 24 was well within the 49 days now so I could switch with no fee so I've just switched to their standard variable. However they are now trying to tell me that changing to the standard variable will mean fees do apply so I have to wait until the 1st June.
Checking their website and another I found regarding the Ofgem requirement I can't see anything being specific about fixed Vs standard variable.

I phoned EDF to switch from that same tariff to their standard variable rate a week ago and it went very smoothly. That was with 47 days remaining. No exit fees.

Fortunately I questioned them on their WhatsApp chat today quoting their terms and apparently they've re-read it and waived the exit fees and put my start date as today and not 1st June. £40 saved from my May payment0
