Dear members, My son's friend has received a PCN from Euro car park (it was in the Pub's premise). My son's friend was visiting us and we went to a pub few days back at around 10 PM for 45 minutes in their car. There was light but it was dingy. I was there as well and all of us looked at the yellow parking charge board and thought we do not need to pay upon reading the board. Yesterday when we got the PCN, I went back and realised it was a mistake from our side in reading the board.

What confused is the mention of Between 08:00 hours to 20:00 Hours. We thought the parking charges apply only in this timeframe. Both of us thought the same even after reading twice at that time. What didn't help was that it was dark and light a bit dingy.

It was a genuine mistake, now that i have read the board again.

Does it make sense to contest it please. When we went to look at the sign yesterday evening I was surprised how we misread it but honestly that's what happened. What should I do in this situation pls. Thank you so much for your suggestion. The challenge is it involves my son's friend who was a guest for us that day.

If it was in the pub car park, go see the landlord/manager and ask a) why they are driving away customers by having unregulated parking companies in their car park and b) please have the PCN cancelled.
If it wasn't a pub car park, appeal on the basis of unclear signage.

Thank you Le  Kirk. Yes it was Pubs car park. We went to the pub yesterday evening and met the manager but nothing came out, he said speak to Euro car park. Now Euro Car park do not have phone number where they discuss PCN etc. The challenge I have got is actually that evening my son's friend was with us it was their car. If we go into contesting this basically we are dragging that person. While I would like to go ahead and fight it out but given here it was our guest possibly quick closure seem to be we just paying.

@KeithP wasn't posting that to suggest for a nanosecond that you PHONE a parking firm!

    EEEEK NO! Stop phoning.

And certainly stop thinking of paying.

Who is the registered keeper then, the friend?

Who was driving...same friend? Or you?

    No-one will be paying.

Read the Newbies FAQS thread and try Plan A first.  Explained there.

NO PHONING.  NO APPEALING IN APRIL.

If Plan A fails, there are three possible appeal grounds that beat ECP at POPLA.  One of them is revealed in that sign picture.  Two others will depend upon the PCN.  Show us pics of both sides.
