    That means if I damaged the car I was test driving, I would have to pay for everything. My insurance would only cover third party claims. Imagine the mess that would be and the chances of pursuing a test driver for the money! Just say no. If they want test drives, go to a dealer.
    Worst still are the cases where the person has said they have DoC and then it turns out they dont... 

    Then your insurer is the Section 151 RTA Insurer so your insurer has to pay out for the third party losses but as you've allowed an non-named driver to use the vehicle without insurance then your insurers can recover that money from either you or the driver. 

    Had once case in my claims days where our policyholder hadn't realised DoC only applies to the policyholder and it was their spouse that had taken a car for a test drive thinking they had DoC too and t-boned a Bentley
