Double Glazing - Anglian Windows ?

Hi! Would just like to offer some of my knowledge from having worked in the past for Zenith windows. They have some bad tactics as in spending hours at your house giving a quote and then ringing up the office to see what reduction they can offer. What they do here is ring up and they are talking to someone the other end who gives a discount depending on what street you live down, how busy the area is, are you near a bus stop, etc etc. THe more of these reqirements you fill the more discount you are given, supposedly! The fact of the matter is, its a load of rubbish and they are not bothered where you live and will only give x amount of discount on the already inflated price.
Regarding the windows and doors though, if you can afford them then have them. As we used to tell people who we rang, when you see people having their windows installed, the frames go in first and then the glass. With Zenith they are made as one complete unit and therefore are very safe, secure etc. We had a window unit in the office that we laid on the floor and could jump on and it would not break. THe glass is also virgin pilkington glass which is teflon coated so that they do not need or need less cleaning as dirt just slides off.
No, i do not work for Zenith anymore, so im not doing the sales talk but just wanted to put some views over to maybe help in your decisions.0 -
I'll agree too that the big players just over inflate their prices and the 'offer' discounts.
We had a bloke from Everest round, touting his super duper windows. They were rubbish.
He made a special offer of £12,000 ! and made out he was doing us a big favour.
He even phoned 'The Office', which was probably just his missus.
We ended up with an offer from a local guy for £3,000, and they were nicer windows. Unfortunately, he was having cash flow problems and we almost lost our deposit.
They didn't initially turn up for the job, but we found where he had the windows made, a local firm. The owner explained that the fitter owed him money so wouldn't let him have any more windows until he settled his bills. He was very helpful and said that he'd get someone else to fit the windows and take the money from the other fitters account.
The original fitter turned up and fitted the windows in the end.
It may be worth finding your local window manufacturer and asking them for the name of a good fitting team with stable financial standing.
It’s a gamble. Try to find a middle ground and don't get ripped off.
Make sure you get your FENSA certificate too !0
