Landlords' building and contents insurance

Hello, what are the most affordable providers of landlords' building and contents insurance? Most of the comparison sites don't permit it. And also, does anyone know which permit insurance of properties within 30 ms of a river (no previous flooding)? Thank you!

Isn't landlord's insurance normally just for the building but not the content? Individual's would get their own content insurance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I'd guess that depends whether it's a furnished let?Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅🏅⭐️, DD1: 🏅 and one for Mum: 🏅1

I don't know if they are affordable, but Direct Line advertise landlords insurance. Their criterion for properties near a river used to be "not flooded in the last 10 years", but that was for regular home insurance.

No, often the landlord has some form of contents inside the dwelling even if it's just white goods in the kitchen. At the other end of the spectrum are fully furnished properties where the tenant just brings their clothes and bedding.Brie said:Isn't landlord's insurance normally just for the building but not the content? If there is sufficient goods to be worth while paying for the insurance is another matter.
Not sure which of the comparison sites you are looking at that dont allow Landlords insurance but most do however most are not actually aggregating but are simply exposing Simply Business' panel of insurers to look like an aggregator. As it's not a very good comparison.lad22 said:Hello, what are the most affordable providers of landlords' building and contents insurance? Most of the comparison sites don't permit it. Ultimately you need to shop around, there is no one cheap insurer else they'd have at least half the market. What's cheap for one may be expensive for another because of different experience with postcodes, strategic priorities, concentration risk etc0 -

They don't usually allow landlords' insurance - you phaff around filling it all in and then find the only options to click are that you live there, or else if they do have a button which shows you're a landlord, at the very end they say you must phone them...DullGreyGuy said:

As mentioned, they have explicit sections for Landlords but its not really a comparison site, just a broker exposing their full panel eg https://www.confused.com/home-insurance/landlord you'll note its still branded confused.com but its on SimplyBusiness' website. Same as https://www.gocompare.com/landlord-insurance/. The parent company of this site has theirs https://www.moneysupermarket.com/landlord-insurance/search/q/landlord/new_business/about_you_split_1/66267a7e8f4e56053c4e6193 but is still SimplyBusiness just you have to look at the footerlad22 said:YBR said:I'd guess that depends whether it's a furnished let?DullGreyGuy said:
