Travel insurance - with pending hospital referall

Hi all
I am due to travel to Usa soon and looking to get travel insurance. I have  visited my gp in Dec 2023 for a medical issue which I am currently facing. It’s extremely subtle and doesn’t impact me day to day. My gp didn’t think the issue was anything major but has made a  referral at my request to my local hospital for further investigation. The appt at the hospital isn’t for another 8 months until 2024 end. When trying go get travel insurance quotes, it asks if I’ve got any pending/awaiting investigations which I am putting “yes” to as I’m currently awaiting review for my referral. It immediately means I cannot get travel insurance for my upcoming travel to Usa.

Is there any well known providers for  travel insurance who provide cover even with people on wait lists?

I would appreciate any input or suggestions as it currently stands I won’t be able to get insurance at any mainstream provider due to the long wait lists at the nhs. What do people usually do in these instances - travel without insurance and hope for the best?  Thanks

You should be able to find cover although it will be expensive, keep searching for "travel insurance for existing conditions"

I would not even contemplate travelling without insurance unless I win tonight's EuroMillions jackpot.

Do you have a suspected diagnosis? Insurers hate uncertainty, ironically, so a suspected diagnosis of, for example, IBS is much easier to get cover for than for a frequent upset stomach that could be anything from an allergy through to stage 4 cancer.

Ive had experience of this and as long as you've got a definite diagnosis  for the condition you've been referred for you should be able to get cover for that condition whilst you are on a waiting list.  Try Avanti, Staysure and All Clear.  You will need to phone them to get your quote
