Sportsdirect - address change issue

I'm after some advice. I recently moved home so have a new address.
I purchased some footwear through Sportsdirect. During the buying process I was waiting to add the delivery address to make sure it was the new one. I got part way through the process expecting the next screen to ask me for a delivery address but this did not happen and the sale went through. When I checked it went through on my old address as this was the address linked to the sportsdirect account.

I cannot recover the footwear, the shoes have been delivered but I have no contact details for the new owners and due to issues in the house sale/move am guessing they will be less than helpful with regards to getting the footwear to me.

I contacted Evri who were the courier (I had set up mail redirection with royal mail but wasn't sure who sportsdirect used) and they confirmed that they could change the delivery address if the shop contacted them to advise them. I tried to contact sportsdirect but could not get in touch with anyone who could change it. They just told me they couldn't change anything about the order.

I'm now down a pair of trainers as there is no way of me getting them from my old house (distance and non compliant new owners)

Do I have a leg to stand on to take sportsdirect to small claims court?

Tia

Cut your losses I'm afraid. It would cost you £35 for a MCOL claim, and even if you pursued it, I think you'd lose. Your delivery address was already stored, and it was your responsibility to update it. You'd made the assumption you could add a delivery address in the buying process, whereas the company have fulfilled the order based on the original stored information. The after-sale issue is frustrating, but it doesn't alter the initial issue, which the retailer didn't cause. Hopefully it wasn't too expensive a loss.

    I agree.
I did it once just after my last move. The company couldn't change the address but said I'd be able to once it was with the delivery company. I did and it all went ok.

I'd be trying to get the people at my old address to help. If they didn't I'd maybe mention that it is stealing to keep hold.

The other option is to claim non receipt with Sports Direct. If they use Evri they'll be used to things being delivered to dustbins and showing as delivered.

Jumping to going to small claims before exhausting other options seems crazy, as well as the very small chance of actually winning a case.
