Barclaycard protection

Hi,
Q. Am I covered by Barclaycard and therefore likely to get my £300.00 back or am I just another unsecured creditor?
Background.
I ordered a new lounge suite in July of this year (2007) and paid a deposit of £300.00 by Barclaycard via the telephone. I received an order from the company identifying the goods and the deposit paid. At the end of November, I received a letter from administrators telling me that the company is insolvent and requested my order information. On 18th Dec 2007 the administrators informed me that the order could not be fulfilled and that I should contact Barclaycard to pursue a claim for my deposit. I telephoned Barclaycard yesterday and the adviser told me that Barclaycard would send me a form to fill in and return, on receipt of this form Barclaycard will endeavour to claim the money back from the administrators but could guarantee nothing. I asked if I was not automatically covered (Section 75 cover) as the amount was over £100.00 and was told “absolutely not”.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Garry

You are NOT protected by Barclaycard per say, but you are protected under the Consumer Credit Act which affords protection to you on purchases over £100.
If Barclaycrad have advised you otherwise they are wrong. Most c/s staff are not trained to know about these things therfore you need to officially complain in writing OR at a higher authority level (disputes dept.), dispute the payment and ask for it to be immediately set aside. You CANNOT be charged interest once it's set aside, nor do you have any legal obligation to pay the £300.
Barclaycard and the administrators are now LEGALLY jointly liable for the £300 and it is up to them to foot the bill.0 -

I have already paid Barclaycard, way back in August, I assume that will not make any difference to your reply?
That’s very interesting, many thanks.
