Last time I had this issue I spoke to the bank immediately and they cleared it back at the end of the day
How can you "only get £100" - ATMs always dispense the bills in a wad, do you mean you were taking a few notes at a time and the rest got taken?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

have you raised it with your bank or the bank whose cash machine it was? what proof do they have that it was working correctly when it dispensed the wrong amount, which they knew?

Did you take a picture of the cash that you COULD SEE SITTING BEHND THE DISPENSER SLOT? It's surely obvious that that evidence would disappear into the next customer's hand.0

Please don't shout, it puts people off replying to you.1

Not an uncommon problem with Asda cash machines, supposedly as an anti theft precaution the machines are adjusted to only push out a quite narrow strip of notes making it difficult to snatch and run.
The machines have no warning of this, nor that a very limited time is available to both collect card and withdraw notes, before those notes are pulled back.
I think the OP is wrong in saying they could see their other notes in the dispenser, as far as I'm aware any kept notes or cards drop into a container under the dispenser mechanism.
When this happened to me the machine grabbed the whole lot just as I was attempting to use one hand to extract the notes, there was nothing visible in the slot.
I avoid Asda cash machines now!0 -
