To stop stone chips - don't drive it anywhere.

To make it easier to clean - use CarPlan No.1 Supergloss - it's hydrophobic.

It takes 10 minutes of very little effort every 6 months or so.

Or use CarPlan No.1 SuperCeramic which it a little more hydrophobic but needs a good bit more effort.

Really don't appreciate this condescending ableism. Just because it's easy for you doesn't mean it's easy for everyone else.
Condescending? I am a disabled pensioner with severe arthritis.

The CarPlan No.1 Supergloss is a 'wipe on- wipe off' product.

Read the instructions on the bottle.

All it needs in preparation is a really clean car.

So much for what I thought was helpful advice.

Common myth, ceramic coating doesn't prevent chips or scratches, that's clear wrapping or ppf. Expect that cost to be X3.
Not a common myth at all if you look at it protecting the paint & clear coat. A ceramic coating is a hard layer across the paint. It does prevent chips and scratches into the clear coat (but of course has its limits). You will still get scratching, but it will be reduced and in the ceramic rather than the clear coat.

There is only so much it can do to prevent stone chips, but it does give increased protection against them getting into the clear coat and paint.

PPF film is an additional layer of protection and can also be used alongside a Ceramic coating or independently.

Spray on Ceramic Sealants are in no way a replacement for a proper ceramic coating as they give far less protection even when first applied and last months not years. Great as a wax replacement though.

You still don't seem to be able to comprehend that someone might be less able than you are.

For the avoidance of future confusion, what part of "I can't do it myself" did you not understand?

Thanks, that's useful information. I suppose the issue is that when considering a 5 year coating for around £600, is it cheaper to just get damaged fixed? In think the answer is likely to be yes.

FWIW I have had my red 2016 Jaguar XE for 4 years 25,000 miles

i have it washed about 4 times a year as it never seems to get dirty so there is something out there that lasts

    Totally agree with you.
That Car Plan polish is excellent and by far the easiest to apply that I have used in ages. Spray on wipe off.

Auto Finesse and CarPro do products that are snow foam on and jet wash off. Even easier 👍.

Project Farm on YouTube recently did a comparison of some coatings. They are all brands available in the US, but most are made in China so you can get them here.
