Thanks everyone see what the survey says reassuring it's common bungalow is perfect

  • Our first house had the old fashioned fuse box in the garage- complete with wire fuses.  We got it moved across the wall into the house when we upgraded it.
  • I don't understand why you think you have a problem !
In our garage we have the electric meter/smart meter, solar panel inverter and controls & the gas meter. So what ? It's not a problem. Why would I want that lot taking up space in my house ?

Is it a detached garage?  Does the gas pipe go back underground after the meter, or is it up in the air?

We had a bathroom leak once that dripped down into the hallway cupboard containing the fuse box! That was worrying. Wouldn't have happened if the fuse box was in the garage. Just would have needed to trudge outside every time a rogue raisin shorted out the toaster causing the RCD to trip.

The garage is attached to the house.
The gas pipe goes back under the floor after the meter.

Thanks.  That's the diference, the OP's garage is detached so the question that would concern me would be how the multiple cables for the different circuits get into the house.

  • Presumably it would be done in the same way as supplying power to/from any outbuilding. Wouldn't the cables be routed through black underground trunking/tubing. Most of the power cable to/from my garage are routed inside this trunking underground.

The wire goes from the house to the garage overheas its visible in armoured cable.   The estate agent has said its had one survey and was OK.  Am getting a new survey and electric check.  Am led to believe the seller only has to provide a gas one.  They have installed a new electric oven and hob
