DRO from 2018 but paid debt to Lowell

Hello, first time posting so forgive me if any mistakes. I paid off an old British Gas debt that had been sent to Lowell. Lowell contacted me in 2021 regarding this debt and chased for payment. I advised I’m sure this debt was in my DRO of 2018 but could not find proof.
now the Lowell account is clear and closed, I have recently by chance come across my DRO and as suspected , the British Gas debt is in fact listed on there. I have contacted Lowell about this however if there is a formal letter to claim a refund etc or advice how to do it, I would be very grateful. My payments were sent via Standing Order so indemnity claim through bank cannot be done.
Thank you in advance

Probably a formal letter to Lowell itemising the payments you've made since, and what you've paid off - have you used their complaints process?

Quick question - did you pay off the debt when it was with BG or Lowell?

I'd be tempted to contact FOS, as any refund may be due some sort of interest remediation as well ( I'd be asking it anyway in my complaint to them ).

This quite a grey area to be honest, you would have to be reliant on the goodwill of Lowell in order to receive anything back by way of a refund, there is no specific template letter that I know of, just put the facts into writing and ask for your money back.
