Advice on Withdrawn Offer Please

I received an e mail offer from a leading store offering a Tom Tom Europe GO 720 at £159.99 I clicked the link and it took me to their site where the cost was showing as £223.99.
I phoned their office on 26th once it had opened, and queried the offer, they asked I forward their e mail offer back to them- which I did and closed my mail offering to accept their offer cost of £159.99. Yesterday I was sent a general mail from the store advising they had made an error. I expect this to be as a result of my query.
I then re sent my mail back to them asking for an answer to my query. They have now responded saying the offer was wrong and that if I want the Tom Tom Go Europe I will have to pay £223.99. The £159.99 cost related to another model. There was no reference to a catalogue number on the e mail offer just a description Tom Tom Europe GO 720.

Does anyone know where I stand, can I ask they honour the offer?

With Thanks

  • they can refuse to sell as it was a genuine error, however they have been made aware of the error and subsequently agreed to the sale- they will find it hard to wriggle out of it if they have then agreed to the sale at the lower price- thus forming a contract.
    baldly going on...
  • Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunatly they did not agree to sell the named item at a lower cost, but refered me to another model.

Put it down to experience and move on.

Genuine error, they do not have to sell at the lower price, it happens often.

next time just buy, don't question and spoil it for everyone else
  • I think that's the point - I don't think he could just buy as the website was already showing the higher price.
