Four year old Volvo leaking
Clairabella
My 4.5 year old Volvo has developed water ingress from the sunroof. The dealership are repairing the failed seal. Should I really have to pay the full cost of the replacement? I did not expect a top of the range XC60 to develop such a fault so soon in its life!
Many thanks for any advice on this.

Did you buy it direct from the Volvo dealer that you are now using to repair it? Your consumer rights are through the retailer you bought it from.Clairabella said:My 4.5 year old Volvo has developed water ingress from the sunroof. The dealership are repairing the failed seal. Something should be fit for purpose, but at 4.5 years old you would need an independent report to state that the seal has failed due to an inherent fault, and not something you've done. If you can prove this, then you can make the retailer fix it.
If it's already being repaired it might be too late for any sort of independent report.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -

I did buy it from this dealership but unfortunately have already given the go ahead for the repair.0 -
There is nothing to stop you trying to convince them that it has clearly failed due to poor design/manufacture and not something you did, and point out that under the Consumer Rights act 2015 then they should be responsible for the repair. Or at least try and get them to pay half!Clairabella said:

The OP could try doing an internet search on the model of the car and sunroof problems. If it's a common problem others will have posted about it.

Just to add myWifes XC60 did this - it wasn’t the seal, it was blocked drains. There are 2 in the front corners which are easy to get to, and 2 at the rear which are less so.
They don’t seem to appear on many (if any) service schedules so owners of all sorts of marques are having similar issues.0
